Duke and an old friend.

Visit with an old Friend

duke and jerryIn early February 2007, I found the whereabouts of an old friend, Jerry Nilsson. This friend, someone I met in the early 60’s and had the pleasure to work with for years. We worked together until the middle 70’s but kept in touch with until the early 80’s.

Our jobs finally separated us and we lost touch until, as I said early February. I noticed that on one of our mutual friends had copied a Jerrynil on his E-mails. After inquiring to this friend if it was the Jerry of old, I was told it was the one and only.

I immediately tried to make contact via both E-mail and phones calls to renew this old friendship. We agreed to a visit and on February 19th, I arrived in Caldwell Idaho in my Motor coach and checked into a RV park. Later that evening we met for the first time in approximately 25 years.

Jerry, his wife Sally, a lovely but shy person, and I had dinner and planned the next several days of activities. Those included playing golf as long as the weather permitted. It is still winter in Idaho. As it turned out we were only able to golf one day, but we managed to do many other things. Such as bowling, shooting pool, and enjoying a few libations. It was truly a great time and we plan to continue our new found relationship.

We also discussed the possibility of getting together with the friend, Ray Gale sometime in the future, maybe this summer.

Getting reacquainted is one of the greatest pleasures as we grow older. Thanks Jerry for the wonderful week!
